....WE WERE TO HAVE BEEN JOINED BY THE REMARKABLY TALENTED RUSS HEDRICK AS CHARLIE DANIELS AT THE MARYLAND SHOW. HE WAS, HOWEVER, HOSPITALIZED AND FIGHTING CANCER AT THAT TIME.
.... I AM VERY SORRY TO REPORT THAT RUSS HAS SINCE PASSED ON. HE WILL BE VERY MUCH MISSED. HE WAS AN AMAZING PERFORMER AND AN ABSOLUTELY UPSTANDING HUMAN BEING.
THIS IS AN OLD PAGE, WOULD YOU RATHERREAD THE CURRENT ONE?
WHAT"S NEW
APRIL/MAY 2010
Steve Fairchild has been putting together an Country-themed evening called "Garth Brooks and Friends" in Cumberland, MD for seven years now, and the locals know they need to get their tickets early and come prepared to have a great time. This year carried on the happy tradition and then some!
The show included Steve as Garth of course, and I got along well with my Conway Twitty numbers. Josh Ward had the ladies hopping around over Toby Keith, and Chad Givens made a very, very fine showing as Tim McGraw. We really had something when Miss Nellie Norris in the dual roles of Minnie Pearl and Loretta Lynn was added into the mix. Nellie is funny and charming as Minnie, and vocally and visually right-on as Loretta. Getting the chance to duet as Conway and Loretta was something we both enjoyed, and the audience had many nice things to say.
This was my first time being involved in the cast, and we were treated like visiting royalty. My sincere thanks go out to Cindy Hook, photographer Ed Havens, and all of the staff and volunteers with the Tri-State Concert Association for making this such a memorable experience.
A special note...we had a marvelous surprise in an appearance by local singer Landri Taylor. This charming young woman is just getting to the brink of overcoming her shyness enough to perform publicly, and wowed the crowd when she took on the role of Faith Hill and stepped up from the audience to duet with Chad on the Tim McGraw/Faith Hill hit "Let's Make Love".
It's easy to predict a terrific future for Landri, and I am happy to be able to say I saw one of her earliest guest appearances where the audience thought she was simply amazing!
On the home front here in Myrtle Beach, I'm already getting ready for my "Legends in Concert" run as Conway that starts this September. That character is giving me lots of room to have fun with wardrobe, so look for some real country eye-candy when I open there! Also in April are two more dates scheduled for me as Roy Orbison with the touring show "Rock & Roll Heaven"
..UPDATE..
It's official!...I'm on for an extended run starting soon at a great new theatre in the "Live Show Capital of the World" -- Branson, Missouri!
Take a quick look at the SHOWS page for now... I'll write more about it soon.
And, talk is still ongoing about Branson, cruise ships, Nashville, Las Vegas, and all sorts of points between and beyond, so I might be right up the road from you sometime soon!"
