"February has come and gone with chocolates and flowers and hearts with cute sayings on them. Some braver souls even give, or get, diamonds in February. However you marked St. Valentine's Day, I hope that you get plenty of expressions of affection from those around you. I'll start things off...thanks for caring enough to check in on this site from time to time to see what I'm up to.
I've just a finished series of shows in Florida. These were performances of "Elvis and Roy, The Lost Concert" with my good friend, Peter Alden. (Many thanks to the nice folks we met while on this tour.) One of our venues on this trip was located in a community called The Villages, a retirement development in central Florida that is the largest such complex in the entire US, and breathtaking in scale. It covers three counties and has a population over 60,000, with dozens of individual neighborhoods clustered around shopping areas and an elaborate community center. Our shows there were very well received and we met many, many wonderful people.

The next morning, back in Orlando, we were bombarded by telephone calls asking about our well-being. In a scary twist of fate, The Villages and the area around it was the hardest hit by several tornados which struck in the middle of the night just three or four hours after we left. Pete and I, along with the members of our support staff, are all present and accounted for with nothing negative to report from our near miss -- except for the unsettling knowlege that many of those nice fans we had just met are among the tornado victims...and some of them among the fatalities. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those folks as they try to recover from such devastation".
